offcenter77
Hi, I installed Hazard 10.6.2 and then updated to 10.6.8 using the Software Update tool to download the update and apply it. I know its kind of different from all the tutorials out there (10.6.6i, then use 10.6.8 combo update dmg, etc), but I got this working the easiest, believe it or not. I was able to get EVERYTHING working, EXCEPT that my mouse and keyboard won't work. I got video, audio, network, etc, etc. But, once I reboot, the keyboard and mouse don't work at all. So I tried this: 1) Install 10.6.2, get it all working (network, audio, video, etc) 2) Grab a copy of IOUSBFamily.kext and IOUSBMass*.kext from /System/Library/Extensions to my desktop 3) Removed SleepEnabler.kext (just to eliminate the kernel panic of mismatched PM) 4) Ran Mac Update to get all updates, including 10.6.8. 5) Reboot (machine comes back, no keyboard or mouse as expected) 6) Reboot using Hazard 10.6.2 install disk 7) Launch terminal and remove IOUSBFamily.kext and IOUSBMass*.kext from /System/Library/Extensions, and restore the copies from my desktop in their place 8) Reboot I still don't have USB keyboard and mouse. But get this: I *do* have USB support. I can plug in a thumb drive, and the damn icon shows up on the desktop. So the USB is working. But the mouse and keyboard are unresponsive. Any idea what I can do here? I'm kinda new to mac, but definitely not a newbie to technology, so I can handle whatever technical jargon you throw at me. Thanks in advance for any help you can give.
