USB and sound USED to work in 10.4.6 not in 10.4.1

I'm one of the unfortunate guys to have a laptop with the intel 855gm card. When I first started working on getting osx86 running I tried out the 10.4.6 JaS dvd which installed but i got black and white graphics on 800x600. When I did this I had USB support, which enabled my external DVD drive, and flash drives, and also sound. Itunes worked and played mp3s well.

 

Now as we all know, there is no fix for my 855gm under anything but 10.4.1 so I was forced to install it which got my video working, oddly can't get QE working though? Anyways that's not the reason for this post. When I put the 10.4.1 on the disk I don't get USB support at all, or sound. Firewire does work. When I plug in a PC Card usb/firewire both work.

Any idea whats going on? I guess 10.4.6 has USB and video drivers that 10.4.1 doesnt? Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
