m1sandman
Howdy all, I had one of these laptops given to me with a bad drive, so I replaced the drive and figured I would give it a try with Snow Leopard. With minimal downloads and work I got it to (mostly) highly functional, at least for the way I would use it. My Specs: Core 2 Duo 2.0 T6400 4gb Ram GMA 4500MHD Graphics Working: Wireless Sound USB (on right side, for some reason the left side isn't working) Keyboard and Trackpad, including sound buttons at top Bluetooth Not Working: Sleep Webcam Wired Ethernet Untested: HDMI (I suspect not working) VGA (who knows) SD slot Modem (why?!?!?) Install was actually very easy: 1. Download ##### (http://www.tonymacx86.com/downloads) and burn ISO to a CD 2. Insert ##### into drive. 3. On startup, Hit ESC, then F9 to enter the boot list on the HP, select the CD-ROM and make it go. 4. Once it loads, eject ##### Disc and insert Snow Leopard Install DVD. 5. Hit F5 until you get the Mac OSX Install available to select then start the install. 6. Make sure you partition your drive properly, then run the install. 7. Once the install is done it will reboot. Repeat steps 1 - 3 until you get to the boot screen, then select your new install. 8. Go through the system setup, and connect to your wireless network (works out of the box). 9. Once the system comes up, download the 10.6.8 combo update from apple (http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399). 10. Download ##### from tonymacx86 (http://www.tonymacx86.com/downloads). 11. Download GMA X3100/4500 Kext (http://www.kexts.com/view/928-gma4500_-_gm...or_toshiba.html). 12. Download VoodooBattery Kext (http://osx86.co/attachment.php?attachmenti...mp;d=1256409980). 13. Run the 10.6.8 combo update that you downloaded in step 9. DO NOT RESTART AT THE END! 14. Run ##### that you downloaded in step 10. I ended up having to run ##### several times to get everything I wanted installed. Continue through until you get to the custom install screen where you can select what you want to install. 15. First time I selected ##### Install and let it run. 16. Once that finished, I started ##### again and selected: Drivers & Bootloaders --> Kexts & Enablers --> Audio --> Universal Drivers & Bootloaders --> Kexts & Enablers --> Miscellaneous --> Voodoo PS/2 Controller & PS/2 Trackpad Drivers & Bootloaders --> Bootloaders --> Chimera v1.4.1 r877 OSx86 Software --> Kext Helper b7 17. Click Continue to let ##### complete those installs 18. Reboot (You should not need ##### this time). 19. Once it comes back up, open Applications and start Kext Helper b7. Drag the contents of the folder you downloaded in Step 11 (except the Kext Helper b7 that is in that folder) into Kext Helper, enter your password, then click EASY INSTALL. 20. Once that is done, reboot again. 21. When your machine comes back up, it should be running at 1366x768, which looks WAY better. 22. Start Kext Helper b7 again. Drag the VooDooBattery kext into Kext Helper, enter your password, then Click EASY INSTALL. Once done, reboot one last time. 23. On restart, you should have a fairly well functioning HPackintosh. Many thanks to the community and coders for making it so easy to get some version of OSX running on whatever hardware comes our way!
