Pepcfreak
Hi all, I purchased a copy of OSX Snow Leopard when i first Installed on my Dell. After i had the Computer up and running i made a .dmg of it as a backup. I have since lost my original and made a copy of the .dmg onto DVD+R DL and have re-installed with it a few times made sure it worked. Now when i use the disk i get to about 30% and says "There was a problem reading the Mac OS X Install DVD. Carefully Clean the disc and try install again" I thought it may had been a problem with the DvD and reburned my backup and it tells me the same thing on a fresh burn. I tried to use the DvD to reinstall on my Macbook and it says the same thing. I have tried re-burning it on a PC using PowerISO and still nothing cause someone had said the mac could be temperamental with burning. Ive tried installing by removing ram sticks, Ive tried different hard drives. Ive tried restoring the dmg to a thumb drive and still says having problems reading disk please clean it.... Any help would be great as i went to the Macstore today and low and behold they yanked all the SL disks off the shelf and I dont wanna/cant go to Lion. Foxic
I'm sure you'll find a snow leopard disc on ebay, I got mine from ebay for like £8 or something silly like that. Failing that I'm sure you'll be able to fine a downloadable version somewhere. You could always just clone your hard drive to a spare one and use disc utility to restore it if you have a problem. that's what I do. Pepcfreak
I was able to finally get my mac and my PC running leopard again. I found the last 2 copies of SL in Florida i swear... at Best Buy of all places on sale for 19.99 each. Came home tried to install and nothing. The Mac wouldt take it but the PC would. So i used ##### and used a new HDD for the macbook and installed osx using my PC onto the Sata notebook driver. After it installed i simply poped it into my Mac and it went right into the Opening movie as if i just pulled this thing from the shelf.
