Hi There,

I managed to install Snow Leopard 10.6.8 on a Dell XPS 720 (nforce Mobo), using the nv123_SerialATA boot cd and SN Retail DVD 10.6.4, updated with combo 10.6.8.

Among many others, i have an issue with my Asus WL138G wifi card (v2)

This card is supposed to work OOB with MacOSX.

Issues :

- when I boot "normally", with chameleon, the network panel tells me that no aiport card is installed.

I tried to load the kext manualy, but the console returned a message telling that there is a failure due to kernel dependencies...

I made a -v boot, and I discovered that the IO80211Family.kext was not loaded. It seems that a memory leak occured (read this from the verbose mode..).

- when I boot in -x mode (or in -x -x32), the kext seems to load correctly because I have the network panel detecting the airport card.

However, when I try to turn on Airport, I can see the wifi icon looking for the network, and then, nothing. No connection.

When I am in safe mode, the actions are quite long to perform. On the contrary, in normal mode, the computer is very responsive.

It can run all day long without crash.

- I have checked that the device ID is correctly reported in the info.plist of the kext

- I have repaired the permissions with OSX86Tools on both /System/Lybrary/Extensions and cache...

with no result.

I am at loss now...

So if someone has some idea....

Hi,

Thank you for replying!!

A lot has happened since my post..

I finally screwed up completely my install trying to fix it ! :o

I had no specific simbios.plist nor DSDT file..

Maybe I should!

Since then, I made a fresh install from "nForceSLBoot132DVD_for_SATA_DVDRW.iso" I found in the very long thread dedicated to nForce mobos...

And bet it, the card is now detected, but if I use Safari, the wifi signal will drop and no way to get the connection back: error message telling me "connection timed out", until I reboot. If I do nothing with the connection, it stays alive...

I fix the issue by finding a kext for my onboard LAN plug. That will do...

But there is a fix for the wifi, I will take it gladl!!!

(for the little story, again, I screwed my system with the installation of 10.6.8 combo: no more USB available. I am stuck with a PS2 keybord, working properly, but no mouse!!!! :)

So, I am good for a new install :D

I suppose it is part of the pleasure to have a Hackintosh!!!! :)
