I partitioned my HD in half, installed tiger in first partition, and rebooted a few times to make sure it worked. I then proceeded to install windows XP on the second parition. During the XP install it said it had to mark the tiger partition as inactive, but since i planned to set it active after windows was installed (as directed by a dual boot guide that i cannot seem to locate now) the install continued, but after the reboot during the install process, the computer stops just after the POST. if i hit F2 it says entering bios, but just sits there at the screen displaying memory installed, etc. So the computer isn't frozen, it just doesn't beep and proceed to load an OS. I had to move the drive to a different computer and set 1st-3rd boot devices to cd-rom to be able to boot from cd and repair hard disk.

I'm afraid to attempt a dual boot again, has anyone successfully installed both tiger and windows by this method? (install tiger, install windows, use fdisk to set tiger partition to active and use darwin bootloader) Or has anyone else experienced this problem?

Thanks

BTW: Using Asrock 915 mobo and Celeron D 310

After coming up with a plan in case total failure occurred again, it repartitioned and intalled. It didn't fail during/after POST so i guess it was just a fluke. I still have not found a good way to dual boot. Currently the XP partition is set to boot, and for MacOS, i just insert the dvd and it will boot to OSX. I tried setting partition 1 (OSX) to active, but it gave an error, something like error loading operating system. By copying chain0 and editing the boot.ini file, i have the option to choose osx86, however it gives a lengthy error saying it cannot boot.
