Hi insanelymac's folks and experts .

Recently , I've been trying to install Snow Leopard on my PC using ##### + ##### method with a Snow Leopard Final Retail disc . First , I load the ##### disc ( the newest version , not Legacy one ) then F5 , insert my SL disc , everything went fine until I got a lame grey apple screen . So I changed the boot into verbose mode ( also with other flags such as -v -x -PCIRootUID=1 ) and I got this :

DSCN0074.jpg

I did search for cases like me , however all I got nothing . I found that the issue was due to graphic card and it had nothing to do with the kext written in the pic above or the bios ( my bios is flashed and updated , using the modified ROM which I found somewhere in this thread ) . I tried other flags which were suggested by folks having the same problems with me like : GraphicsEnabler=No ; GraphicsEnabler=Yes , AtiConfiq=Uakari etc... . The results were all the same as above .

Also I did set the bios to AHCI configs . Same results :(

My specs are :

Intel Core 2 Dou 3.00ghz

MSI P45 Neo2-FR ( MSI-7512 )

ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT ( 2 cards ) ( each 512mb )

2GB RAM

The problems explained above happened before installation which means I had no existent Mac on my PC .

Please help me guys . Any help would be very appreciated . I'm really desperate . It took my nearly a week searching for infos on google and finally I had to post a topic here .

The problem sounds like your fakeSMC kext isn't loading (or loading properly). Since I don't know your exact situation, nor am I familiar with the install method you're using, I can't give you much other help other than to suggest you focus on ensuring your fakeSMC kext is properly installed and of the correct version. The current version of fakeSMC (3.1 I believe) is supposedly capable of using plug-in kexts, so this may also have something to do with your problem.

For more detailed help, I'd suggest posting in a topic dealing with your specific motherboard since the posters in a more specific topic may have better ideas on how to handle your specific system. Since I, myself, use a Gigabyte motherboard, I'm completely unfamiliar with any of the issues that may be associated with your particular setup.

So the problem above is mainly due to my motherboard or the kext you told me about ?

BTW , I'm checking on that kext but how can I replace the original kext on my installation disc by another patched one ( suppose it does exist ) . I haven't had any access to any Mac.

ur problem is totaly related to the Fakesmc + ur vga kext

*use the USB method to install and also leave only one vga card during the installation _u can add the other later when u finsih.

OK , I'll see if It works . Thanks guys for your support :( .

Okay , now that I've restored a Snow Leopard Final Retail dmg on my usb . And also I followed this the " P45 Platinum (MS-7512) " box . I installed his kexts for the mobo , also the patched DSDT.aml using Mac Loader SL 0.4 . Now I get this error :

" Kernel extensions in backtrace with dependencies :

com.apple.iokit.IOATAFamily(2.5.0) ... "

I've searched somewhere on this forum and I found this . But I wonder how can I install that patched kext if I haven't installed Snow Leopard yet ? Or is it possible to add a kext to the installation disc ( usb ) ?

yes u r right ,its simple ,u can add any kext to ur USB as long as it doesn't conflict with anything of ur hardware.

Can you thoroughly tell me how I can do that ? I mean , which folder should I throw the kext into in my SL usb now ? Or which program should I choose ? ( is it actually the Mac Loader SL 0.4 one that will do the job ? ) . Thanks a lot for your support . Really appreciate ;)

Yea , I know but how can I add kexts to usb ?

okey its easy ,open ur usb 1st search for the IOATAFamily and delete it ,then on the USB u should find a folder call Extra > inside it there is Extensions > put ur kexts in there and replace if any then drag and drop this folder over KExtUtil to fix the perm for the new kexts ,now restart and cross ur fingers :D.

OK , thanks dude . Now that I've got rid of that error . Looks like the same error of the 1st post came back . This time , I tried adding the fakesmc 2.5 version , fakesmc 3.1.0 gradually but still couldn't work . I think it's due to my graphic card somehow although I have no idea who to fix it . I also did remove one vga card out . I've done a search and found out that by adding evoenabler.kext would work for ATI HD 4850 . So I gave it a shot and still the same result :D . Any ideas ?

Ok , now that I've found this dude's guide : http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=187362

Luckily he had the same graphic card with me so I guess this would work out . ( I really hope so ) . The problem is , how can I delete ATI extensions ? When I open my Extra\Extensions.mkext ( in the USB stick ) , I found nothing such as ATI...
