Noé
Hello folks! I got a Powermac G5 Case and almost all of its dead internal components. I bought this really cheap from the Swiss eBay alternative (just about 35$ ). I'd like to turn this beautifully looking case into a Hackintosh with 10.7. Therefore I have a few questions: #1 mATX Motherboard or ATX? If mATX is fine, I could even use the 4 original PCI-Slots, and just make a hole for the ATX-blend. I don't have casemodding experience or tools required. So I think mATX would be easier to install. But there are more compatible ATX mainboards. #2 Can I use the internal fans that came with the case? there are some with a 4-pin which looks standard to me, but other fans have 6-pin or even 8-pin connectors. The fans are PWM fans afaik, but that doesn't mean their connectors are standard, right? Apple make their own standard for everything. #3 Front panel buttons and connectors: I don't think the original USB/FW400 Audio ports will work. Is Lian-Li a good choice? Probably the power switch will be vandalproof, I've already seen some of those. ________ Components wished: Motherboard: Asus, ASRock, Gigabyte or anything else, 16 GB max RAM; atx or matx? i7 Sandy Bridge, Quadcore, something above 3 Ghz 8GB Memory DDR3, anything that works, 2*4 GB, expandable to 16 GB in the future Graphics card: 1 GB GDDR5, something decent, brand doesn't matter DVD burner, brand doesn't matter PSU: 750W enough? modular PSU is important, the rest isn't. HDD: 2TB, SSD about 64 GB, speed is not a whole lot important Sound card: not required if motherboard does the job. I hope this can help you choosing components for my system! (And yay I have a decent budget! So the price of the whole thing should be max 2000$, or a little higher, and the components should be available in Switzerland or Germany. Greetings! And sorry for the language, Im not native english speaker... Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/263119-looking-for-107-hardware/ Share on other sites
