*bootable as in.. it boots with 132. We don't have any working Lion 132 discs yet (tho I'm working on one)

Working on this method that doesn't require a preexisting Mac install. When the time comes, having to reformat Snow Leopard, get it up to date for App Store, then install Lion is a whole lot of wasted time.

edit* Also, burning InstallESD is simple enough on a Mac with disk utility, but once we've got a working DVD, then what?

Also, hopefull this will open up Lion to 1st time Hackintoshers. Apple will eventually have a retail version of Lion. There are just too many foreseeable problems not having some sort of physical installation media (dvd or usb).

And finally, I'm old school.. upgrade installs suck. And an old boy scout.. be prepared :D

There are 2 ways of doing this..

(1st - copied from MacRumors - requires a Mac - haven't verified this method)

1. Copy the InstallESD.dmg from the Lion Installer.app someplace eg /tmp

2. Open terminal.app and type in the following command

hdiutil convert -format UDTO /tmp/InstallESD.dmg -o /tmp/Lion.iso

3. rename Lion.iso.cdr to Lion.iso

4. Copy it to a Windows PC

5. Burn with ImgBurn ( ww.imgburn.com ), a Single Layer 4,7GB DVD-R is enough

(2nd - my way - doesn't require mac, works w/ Windows - verified - requires 7Zip support, UltraISO)

1. Copy ...\Install Mac OS X Lion.app\Contents\SharedSupport\InstallESD.dmg (~3.5GB) to temp1

2. Use Peazip or 7Zip, navigate to the InstallESD.dmg (~3.8GB) INSIDE of the first InstallESD.dmg. Extract to temp2.

3. Use UltraISO and either burn temp2\InstallESD.dmg directly to disc, or convert temp2\InstallESD.dmg to ISO and burn that.

If you get an UltraISO 'not a valid image format' error, you're trying to burn the wrong InstallESD.

Using my chameleon 4 disc (Kakewalk 3.0) I get about 2 dmesg pages of the normal -v text before a reboot (no kernel panic). I'm now working on updating my Kakewalk disc (unless MrJanek is already in the process :D ) to all of the new Lion boot stuff.
