Howard Posted August 30, 2006 Share Posted August 30, 2006 First off, Im new here to the forum and I would just like to say hello and thanks to all who contribute to the project . Now here comes my questions, Im currently "aquiring" mac osx x86 and my questions involve installtion and compatability. Im running a windows xp home based HP Dv4000 notebook with a 2ghz processor and a 2ghz Pentium m®. Im wondering if there is anyway that I can (leaving the installed copy of windows on my hd) create a dual boot situation where I could Install OsX on a seperate partition...also, Im wondering that on the new OSX will have wi-fi functionality and dvd playing/burning (i have a dvd burner) fuctionality? Also, when it comes to updates...how are these applied? One last question is graphics card compatiablity...Im unsure of what make my graphics card is and can this cause problems? aquanutz Posted August 30, 2006 Share Posted August 30, 2006 In order to have both on the same hard drive, you will have to: 1. Resize your XP partition to give space for OS X. 2. Install OS X. 3. Install a bootloader in order to choose between the two OS's. As for updates, JaS or someone usually takes the apple update, strips out all the stuff that could harm our hackboxes and uploades a torrent to demonoid or pirate bay. Your graphics card will not cause any problems if it is unsupported, but it just won't look pretty. You won't have Quartz Extreme or anything fancy. You will be able to get a decent resolution (1280x1024) with some editing of files though. There are many tutorials on how to do all of these things on here. I hope this helped.
