I've been trying to install 10.4.7 and nothing is showing up in the "Select destination drive" window(I'm booting directly off the DVD). If I bring up the Disk Utilities I can see my drives which are both SATA. Is this a doable installation scenario? I've been browsing through the forums and seen mixed responses to this question so I thought I'd ask. I've tried logical/primary partition types on both drives but have yet to see anything in that window. My system is a HP xw6200 which seems to be using the Intel 82801EB controller.

thanks, saeder.

Make the partition primary.

As a first step during installation, you must format. Go to Disk Utility.

Select your partition on the left, and click on the Erase tab on the right

Be sure it is set for MacOS Extended Journaled and click the Erase button.

Quit Disk Utility.

Just finished installing and booting into OSx! Time to figure out a few more issues now :) Thanks much!
