i'm guessing, you're...romanian? Asa-i a?

Well, i had that same issue too, I have an nforce 630i chipset and that "still waiting for root device" thing got me nightmares, the issue was that i couldn't change SATA mode (which is greyed out on RAID in my bios) to AHCI, so, was a no go, but i solved by buying a high-end external hard disk, now I have OSX up and running flawlessy!

i've read that if you switch to AHCI from IDE your HDD and DVD drive won't be recognized anymore? Is it me or you have IDE hdd and IDE DVD drive? If that's true then just drop it, Snow Leo hates IDE. Also, don't forget that you can't just switch to AHCi while you're running windows XP, that could be the issue (if you have SATA), if you switch to AHCI and you decide to let it that way you'll have to reinstall windows.

P.S. yes i'm romanian too
