Donniesito
Ok - I followed the wonderful directions posted at the top of this forum. Great instructions! My problem is that I don't seem to be able to get an EDID. I'm using a Dell 1545 as my Hackintosh & like so many others I can't get OS X to display in the native resolution of 1366x768. I first tried getting the info in Ubuntu with the following results: don@don-linux:~$ sudo get-edid | sudo parse-edid parse-edid: parse-edid version 2.0.0 get-edid: get-edid version 2.0.0 Performing real mode VBE call Interrupt 0x10 ax=0x4f00 bx=0x0 cx=0x0 Function supported Call successful VBE version 300 VBE string at 0x2110 "Intel(r)Cantiga Graphics Chip Accelerated VGA BIOS" VBE/DDC service about to be called Report DDC capabilities Performing real mode VBE call Interrupt 0x10 ax=0x4f15 bx=0x0 cx=0x0 Function supported Call successful Monitor and video card combination does not support DDC1 transfers Monitor and video card combination supports DDC2 transfers 0 seconds per 128 byte EDID block transfer Screen is not blanked during DDC transfer Reading next EDID block VBE/DDC service about to be called Read EDID Performing real mode VBE call Interrupt 0x10 ax=0x4f15 bx=0x1 cx=0x0 Function supported Call successful parse-edid: EDID checksum passed. # EDID version 1 revision 3 Section "Monitor" # Block type: 2:0 3:fe # Block type: 2:0 3:0 Identifier "AUO:ec12" VendorName "AUO" ModelName "AUO:ec12" # Block type: 2:0 3:fe # Block type: 2:0 3:0 # DPMS capabilities: Active off:no Suspend:no Standby:no Mode "1366x768" # vfreq 60.114Hz, hfreq 48.452kHz DotClock 72.000000 HTimings 1366 1414 1446 1486 VTimings 768 771 775 806 Flags "-HSync" "+VSync" EndMode Mode "1366x768" # vfreq 60.114Hz, hfreq 48.452kHz DotClock 72.000000 HTimings 1366 1414 1446 1486 VTimings 768 771 775 806 Flags "-HSync" "+VSync" EndMode # Block type: 2:0 3:fe # Block type: 2:0 3:0 EndSection Hm, that didn't have the long hex string I was expecting.. So I decided to try in Windows, using ELDIM EDID Viewer, with the following results: EDID ( Extended Display Identification Data) Report Vendor/Product Identification: Monitor Name : Monitor Serial Number : Manufacturer Name : Product Id : 0 Serial Number : 0 Week Of Manufacture : 0 Year Of Manufacture : 0 EDIDVersion : V0.0 Number Of Extension Flag : 0 Display parameters: Video Input Definition : Analog Signal Analog Signal Properties : 0.700V/0.300V (1.000 Vp-p) Max Horizontal Image Size : 0 mm Max Vertical Image Size : 0 mm Max Display Size : 0 Inches Power Management and Features: Standby : Not Supported Suspend : Not Supported ActiveOff : Not Supported Video Input : 0 sRGB Default ColorSpace : False Default GTF : Not Supported Prefered Timing Mode : False Gamma/Color and Etablished Timings: Display Gamma : 1 Red : x = 0 - y = 0 Green : x = 0 - y = 0 Blue : x = 0 - y = 0 White : x = 0 - y = 0 Etablished Timings : Display Type : Monochrome Standard Timing: Standard Timings n° 1 Standard Timings n° 2 Standard Timings n° 3 Standard Timings n° 4 Standard Timings n° 5 Standard Timings n° 6 Standard Timings n° 7 Standard Timings n° 8 Preferred Detailed Timing: Pixel Clock : 0 Mhz Horizontal Active : 0 pixels Horizontal Blanking : 0 pixels Horizontal Sync Offset : 0 pixels Horizontal Sync Pulse Width : 0 pixels Horizontal Border : 0 pixels Horizontal Size : 0 mm Vertical Active : 0 lines Vertical Blanking : 0 lines Vertical Sync Offset : 0 lines Vertical Sync Pulse Width : 0 lines Vertical Border : 0 lines Vertical Size : 0 mm Input Type : Analog Composite Interlaced : False VerticalPolarity : False HorizontalPolarity : False Monitor Range Limit: Maximum Vertical Frequency : 0 Hz Minimum Vertical Frequency : 0 Hz Maximum Horizontal Frequency : 0 KHz Minimum Horizontal Frequency : 0 KHz Maximum Pixel Clock : 0 MHz Stereo Display: Stereo Display : Normal display (no stereo) RAW Data: 0x00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 0x10 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 0x20 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 0x30 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 0x40 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 0x50 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 0x60 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 0x70 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 So that's not getting ANY information from the system at all. Donniesito
Well this is odd... While looking around online and using google like there's no tomorrow, I decided to do my own digging to find out what my EDID is... I decided to start digging through windows registry and to my astonishment, I found not one, but TWO different EDID's lol Firstly, I run Win7, and this is where the info is supposed to be located: COMPUTER\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\DISPLAY\{monitor ID} Within that, there's another 'folder' called Device Paramaters, and this is where I found the EDID. However, under the DISPLAY 'folder' I found two devices! (I assume one of them is for the external VGA port on the laptop and the other is for the attached display) The first one listed on mine is AUO12EC, and the second is DELA014. SO! Since the AUO12EC looks strangely similar to a line from my Ubuntu probing, I think I'll give the EDID from that device a shot.. If it works, I'll post and let you all know. Donniesito
*sigh* and such. Nope. I tried both, neither worked. Then I tried SwitchResX, that didn't work either. I've also tried changing /Library/Preferences/Systemconfiguration/com.apple.boot.plist with a couple of methods here: Forum Topic Any ideas guys? Shnutzer
On Ubuntu run sudo get-edid > edid.txt And your edid will be in edid.txt in your home folder. It's not readable yet! Go to: http://www.motobit.com/util/base64-decoder-encoder.asp And select your edid.txt to convert it to base64 string And your edid will appear in "Base64 representation of the source data" Good luck! Donniesito
Thank you for your reply :-) I tried that as well, but still no luck. I think I'll just be stuck with 1024x768 on my laptop. I'll probably just have to wait and do it on a desktop :/ Thanks again though Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/260618-no-edid/#findComment-1705735 Share on other sites
