Technobob
How did you change the resolution? Try booting in safe mode at the Darwin boot prompt type -x Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/26039-changed-resolutionnow-monitor-is-out-of-frequency-range/#findComment-176247 Share on other sites
Tha King
within Mac OS X itself...I just loaded the nVidia kext...everything went well...I changed the resolution and BOOM the screen goes black and says its out of frequency range I mean I can install Mac OS X again...but man I dont wanna do this again...then load all the kext files again...such a hassle. I'll try your method now. see thats where i messed up...i changed the resolution to 1280x1024 figuring the hertz will change automatically...i just changed the resolution in safe mode (putting the hertz down first) and it works perfect...im such a dumbass...i hope i dont have to reinstall this thing just because of that. is there anyway i can change it in normal boot? im in safe mode right now...looks beautiful Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/26039-changed-resolutionnow-monitor-is-out-of-frequency-range/#findComment-176248 Share on other sites
Rammjet
I would try deleting preference files containing your settings: Boot using F8 and enter -s At the command prompt Type: /sbin/mount -uw / Type: /bin/rm /Library/Preferences/com.apple.windowserver.plist Type: /bin/rm /Users/(your-user-name)/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.windowserver* Reboot Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/26039-changed-resolutionnow-monitor-is-out-of-frequency-range/#findComment-176251 Share on other sites
