I'm thinking of getting a new motherboard to replace my Abit IP35 for Hackintosh. The IP35 works fine otherwise but I have never ever been able to get sleep working and that's a deal breaker for me.

I'm guessing that Gigabyte boards still have the best chance of working 100% in OSX Lion and further. But there are so many models, which is the definitive "best choice"?

I need the following:

-Firewire (for audio interface)

-Working gigabit network obviously

-100% WORKING SLEEP

Rest of my system is nothing special: heavily overclocked Core2Quad (so overclocking performance also important), GTX260, 4GB DDR2, DVD drive

Thanks in advance.

this is an old board, but I have some friends that are running Snow Leopard on it, and everything works (DSDT Mods).

You will need a Realtek network kext, and a legacy kext for sound. You will also need a compatible video card, and a firewire card too.

If I needed to build a Core 2 Duo Hackintosh system, this is the board I would buy.

GIGABYTE GA-G31M-ES2L LGA 775

Gigabyte EP45-UD3,EP45-UD3R and EP45-UD3P are best boards for quad core overclocking and they are also excellent Hackintosh boards. EP45-UD3L and EP45-UD3LR also work fine with OS X but overclocking on them is a bit more limited. None of these board are sold in stores anymore but maybe you can find a good used one.

Thank you. Will look into what their differences are. My idea was indeed to just buy a used board cheaply.

I own an EP45-UD3P for two years now. Basically, everything's working on it. My only complaints are HD don't go to sleep and auto-sleep doesn't work either. I crashed a few times trying to update to 10.6.5, but finally stuck to 10.6.4 as I don't have any real complaint about it.
