pHfactor
I've built an Atom-based hackintosh for a home backup server, and played with an almost successful install on an Advantech Atom N450 motherboard, both running Leopard. Now, I want to get a decent machine for my music studio, but the MacPros are way out of my reach. My goal is a solid quad core i7 Sandy Bridge build with firewire support running Snow Leopard. There seems to be enough resources for a solid build on either the ASUS P8P67, or the Gigabyte GA-P67X-UD3-B3. For my purposes, digital audio production, is there a reason to prefer one over the other? The only critical piece for me, besides the core audio and processing power (I'm not overclocking), is firewire. Lastly, I know there is kext support for the Realtek network components on the Gigabyte, but the ASUS uses Intel 82579, and I've seen posts that imply the support for it is a bit sketchy.
