Just got my first Hackintosh up and running courtesy of loads of info read on this forum over the last few weeks.

spec is as follows...

Gigabyte G41M-ES2L Board

Intel Q9400 C2Q 2.66GHz processor

2GB Crucial DDR2-6400 RAM (needs to grow to 4GB ASAP)

EVGA 8800GTS 640MB GFX card

Cooler Master 430 Elite Case

Cooler Master GX 650W PSU

Sony Optiarc DVD-RW

Samsung F3 1TB HD

WiFi card pulled from my G5 (aftermarket "airport compatible" one) which seems to just work!

Anyway, got it all pieced together this morning when the remainder of the bits arrived in the post, and by lunch I was booting to the BIOS. Had some trouble thereafter though, cos for some reason couldn't get my MacBookPro to copy the image file of Snow Leopard onto my 32GB USB drive had formatted it correctly), so ended up switching from the Lifehacker original method to the Tony Mac method... Which, to be fair, worked flawlessly! Was probably easier than installing Windows on a PC even! Barely any more difficult than putting a new OSX on a Mac.

Here's a screenshot...

Now, how long til I get "upgrade-itis" I wonder? :D

EDIT: Another Screenshot now I've got it on my 23" Samsung, and set the resolution to full 1080 etc...

congratulations :) Enjoy your hackintosh.

Cheers, I intend to.

At the moment sat feeling quite smug with myself, cos I've been in need of a new Mac for a while (but not been too flush of wallet) and very nearly just bought a new Mac Mini a couple of weeks ago. Sooooooo glad I didn't, cos this cost about 1/3 the price, for about 3 times the power!

And nothing like the hassle I thought it was going to be either... It seems to work "just like a Mac", though I'm sure reading LOTS of info on here and cherry picking some of the parts has helped me somewhat.
