Hi

I managed to get 10.6.3 on my Dell D630 using the iAKTOS S3 v2. I replaced the SleepHelper and X3100 kexts and now have almost everything perfect - almost.

The Boot is good, Sound is up, the display is fine, and it even goes to sleep and wakes up even on lid close (still awaiting my Broadcom Wireless card - currently Intel 3945, so no wireless) . However, there is one peculiarity:

When I put it to sleep by closing the lid, and awaken it, the display comes up dim - lowest brightness - and this cannot be changed even with Fn-Up key (usual Display brighten key-combo). This problem does not occur if I put it to sleep manually and bring it back up through the power button.

I tried unchecking the "dim display before sleep" (or similar) in power options, but no go.

I tried the dsdt for d630/10.6.3, but that broke my boot - currently undoing that.

I'd be willing to settle for the Fn-up key combo operational - don't necessarily need it to come back up with the same brightness. OK as far as there's a way to get back to full brightness. Anyone have any advice? I tried search, but didn't see anything specifically similar, hence the Q.

Thanks

Updates:

If I put it to sleep manually (from finder) then close the lid, the brightness is good after reopening the lid (SL starts up on lid open - I don't have to push the power button or anything). So the problem appears to be something to do with lid close specifically.

Meanwhile, I tried Ivik's DSDT fixes - unsure if the slider was or wasn't working before, but it works with the fixes. However the brightness issue after lid close still stands. Sliding the slider up/down does not change the brightness after lid close and open, nor do the standard Dell Fn keys.

Anyone any other piece of advice, please?

Also DVD drive isn't recognized, but that's another problem.

Thanks

More Updates:

Since I was able to install using iATKOS, I figured that it meant the DVD itself had the right kexts to get the DVD drive working. So I went back there and was able to extract specific copies of IOATA and JMicron2ATA kexts and put those in /Extra/Extensions and /System/Library/Extensions and get the DVD recognized.

Now I'm stuck on "A valid video device could not be found for playback". I understand that QE/CI is working since I am able to play chess and the screen saver works.

GMA X3100 Video is also providing full resolution graphics (1440x900)

Any help on the valid video device?

Also the brightness on sleep remains. Any advice on that?

Thanks

lsi
