I've been experiencing major issues with my apogee duet firewire audio interface in and outside of Logic 9. When recording instruments and microphones, I will get dropouts, sustained crackling, pops, and delays. I determined the following.

1. The settings inside of Logic are not the problem. I've tested various configurations on the hackintosh that present no issue, when using my macbook pro. In addition the cpu meter inside of Logic is not hitting anywhere near the red line. I even get dropouts when using itunes or anything else, although no crackling.

2. The hardware is not damaged. Again, I've tested on the macbook pro without issue and even swapped in another duet unit on the hackintosh to no avail.

3. Drivers for the duet are the most current manufacture offering.

I've seen that the duet works well on other hack builds so I'm wondering if there is an issue with my firewire 400 port (of which this MB has only 1). I tried popping in a lacie firewire card from my old PC which supplied power, but was not recognized by the system.

I'm new to the hackintosh community, and followed a guide for putting everything together. I'm hoping that some more experienced tweakers, can help me figure out changes I might be able to make at the system level to remedy this problem.

Any help is appreciated. This is driving me crazy.

Info on my specific build.
