thekidcastro
Hi Guys, I've previously installed a build of leopard 10.5 but I bought a PC specifically known to work flawlessly with it 2 years ago. Now I'm back in the game and I'm pretty much sold on buying into AMD since it suits me personally and value for money. My question is as the title suggests, should I bother? I have searched the forum for the answer but most posts I have found are about 6 months old. What is the current state of AMD compatibility with OS X including the upcoming Lion revision? Im interested in getting on board again but I dont want to stay with Intel, maybe next time around. Here is the component list MB.....Asus M4A87TD-USB3 CPU..... AM3 x6 1055T / x6 1075T / x6 1090T /x6 1100T VGA..... 2GB ATI HD6970 Powercolor Any advice is appreciated guys... I just want to know whether to bother doing this or not? Im hoping this is possible. Thanks, Justin Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/258830-amd-x6-1055t-should-i-bother/ Share on other sites

Thanks, Justin Seems ok. I do recommend having a second hackintosh available for the install. With one I built from a dell optiplex gx620 i bought on craigslist for $80 I was able to get my amd 1055t system running. Specs ASRock A780GXE/128M (my old mobo) Amd Phenon 1055t x6 800 GB WD caviar Green (picked it up for $40 bucks) 500 watt ps 4 gig ddr2 800 Adata ram Sound works with voodoohda. Ethernet works OOB USB OOB Firewire OOB Haven't Tried esata but since it is just abridge from the regular sata on this board I assume it will work. I originally tried this with the on-board video but found the HD3200 is never going to be supported. I then threw my 5750 in there and could get native resolution of 1920x1080 but no qe ci I am buying a NVidia 9600 for $30 bucks tonight and will be trying this. My install process: Attach hdd to hackintosh with usb adaptor. install osx to formatted journaled hdd using osinstall.mpkg from retail disk. updated directly to 10.6.7 still on first hackintosh. ran myhack installer ran 10.6.7 legacy kernel installer Place hdd into new computer. Boot into osx with -v -x flags run initial setup. Reboot with only -v flag rerun 10.6.7 legacy installer to get proper force64 function for AMD machines. install smbios for 12.1 imac. Everything seems to be running properly except for the video. Hopefully with this card it will just work. my old ata dvdrw wont work even with ata kext. Hopefully this helps.
