Bloodworth
Well, my desktop's motherboard died (some ASRock board with VIA chipsets....never did get OSX running on it), so I got a new one: an ASRock G31M-S R2.0 (G31/ICH7). I don't really use the desktop anymore, so I thought I'd use it as a drive server for my collection of Harddrives. After installing the motherboard and a DVD drive (IDE) and ONE SATA HDD, I booted up the BIOS and tweaked some settings (USB legacy=off and some other minor stuff), then loaded a freshly burned iAtkos S3 v2 (or whatever that one version is that everyone's been using) and booted from the DVD, formatted the HDD to GUID HFS+ (OSX extended journaled) and then I accidentally hit 'continue' instead of 'customize' to select drivers and stuff, resulting in it installing with default options . Nevertheless, after it was done and rebooted, it worked great! I installed the combo update to 10.6.7 and then ran #####, restarted and everything works perfectly! Now I lied. There's one minor (for my case) issue left: Audio. The board uses a Realtek ALC662, so when I ran ##### I selected the VoodooHDA thingy (whatever the latest version of it was on #####) and I get audio, but it's a tad quiet, only in the right channel, and there's a hissing/whine in the left channel. Now I read somewhere on here that you just change the Audi MIDI settings to 16bits and change the sample rate to something, but every combination of those didn't change anything. Anyone know how to fix the audio, 'cause after an hour of searching on here, I can't find any of the threads/posts that I saw earlier that seemed to have the answers..... Oh right, Specs: Motherboard: ASRock G31M-S R2.0 CPU: Core2 Duo 2.2GHz (E4500 Allendale) RAM: 2GB Patriot DDR2 667MHz Vcard: Nvidia 8800GTS 320MB Optical drive: some kind of IDE DVD burner Boot drive: ExcelStore something or other SATA 3.0Gb/s (80GB) EDIT: Sleep doesn't work either: it's not an issue for me, but just FYI for anyone using this post for information.
