HDD is formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and is connected to SATA0 port (6GB/s) and DVD is connected to SATA1 (6GB/s) port. Only 1 4GB stick installed. Setup BIOS per ##### Step One. Boot from #####, swap in Retail SL 10.6.0 DVD, hit F5, and the Install Disc appears. Then, I hit enter, and the next screen is grey with Apple logo and spinning gear. It sits here for about 5 minutes, then goes to another grey screen and my mouse immediately turns into the spinning rainbow pinwheel of death. It sits like this for a minute or two, and the computer shuts off. To troubleshoot, this is what I've tried: Switched both HDD and DVD to be on SATA2 and SATA3 ports respectfully (3GB/s). On ##### screen, tired both PCIRootUID=1, and PCIRootUID=1 -x, same result as stated above. Enabled 64-bit in BIOS, changed CPU multiplier to 29, changed SATA from IDE to ACHI, disabled EIST and C-States (For speedstep). Flashed Motherboard to F4 BIOS too. Used -v in ##### after swapping in SL DVD. It constantly states "disk1s3: I/O error." Then loads some other things, saying it refused kext so using a different one, then boots to the 2nd grey screen with pinwheel of death, and shuts off a minute later. I am unsure how to proceed, and am at my wits end after spending hours troubleshooting. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! step2008
Edit: I had the same problem, what I did was to disconnect the graphic card, and connect the monitor to the motherboard DVI connector for installation. I also previously restored (on a Mac) my SL DVD to a 8GB USB drive to be used as an installation disk. PookyMacMan
Sounds like your DVD is ruined. The other thing you can try is the OSx86 ModCD. I posted a link and guide here.
