iAtkos 10.5.7 SATA (AMD/Marvell brands) confusion on MSI 880GMA-E53 board

Greetings and thanks for taking a moment to look at my problem/attempting to help me with a solution. I've given hackintosh-ing a try in the past on older PC's and have not had luck, however I recently purchased some new parts and have been attempting to get it going for the better part of a week! Here is where I stand currently with my 'progress':

-Able to press 'on' button on computer and boot to Chameleon 2 RC 2 OS selection

-Able to boot to OS-X 10.5.7 using the following commands:

rd=disk0s2 (the main required command for success from what I can tell)

cpus=1* (seems to be important, also)

busratio=20* (also seems to be pretty important, as I'm running an AMD based system...more on this in a moment)

-x*

-v*

-f*

voodoo*

noapic*

platform=X86PC

* = other commands I used to get the OS to install initially/have tried to use in order to remedy the problem to no avail.

-Unable to boot to OS-X without using disk

Now, from what I've been able to gather my "basic problem" if you word it as such is that on plain start up (press 'on') after I choose OS-X in Chameleon, I end up at the good ol' apple screen (http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_GY7CglwXFAQ/SC0-3kPJGYI/AAAAAAAABZc/7-8oa8hd3WE/s1600-h/DSC02682.JPG) which after trying to load in -v I've learned is the result of "still waiting for root device".

That's fine. I did a significant amount of searching around Google and this forum in particular searching for possible solutions, and have learned that this error is most likely the result of me using SATA for my HD and DVD drives.

Again, fine. The logical next step would be to re-install iATKOS and install the proper kext (still an odd word to me coming from PC-land by the way) for my SATA drives. However, the distro does not have the appropriate 'brand' of SATA listed anywhere to install. Here are some important specs:

I'm using the on-board video currently (ATI HD 4xxx), but it seems to work just fine.

AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition Processor

Now, here are some things I have tried:

-Switching the order of the HD/DVD drive in regards to the AMD SATA ports (1,2 to 2,1). I have not tried switching to ports 7/8 (Marvell), as I also cannot find the kexts for that brand.

-Installing the general SATA kext (first option) on iATKOS

-Tried using other distros: iDeneb, iPC.

-Installed OSx86Tools and added all the above mentioned boot flags, including:

-Changing BIOS settings (saw for instance that I needed to configure SATA as ACHI)

TLDR version of my problem:

I was able to install OS-X using iATKOS 10.5.7 successfully, but cannot boot to OS-X without the install disk. It appears to be a problem with my SATA hard drive/DVD drive, but I cannot find a feasible solution, as my SATA ports are by AMD and Marvell, neither of whom I can find a kext for/solution for.

Thank you again for your assistance, and I hope I have provided enough information. If you need more, let me know and I will gladly do my best to get it to you (though admittedly I am pretty novice).

Sincerely,

Tim
