DeeJumpz9m
I've been trying for 2 days now just trying to get OSX to install. This is what I've done so far. Core i3 CPU M 330 @ 2.13GHzMotherboard HM55 NVIDIA GeForce GT 310M RAM 4GB I've searched around these forums and tonymacx86 and have found most users with the same laptop to be successful. 1. Using GParted to partition my HDD. I deleted my whole C: drive and reformatted it to HFS+. 2. I'm using two USB drives 8GB & 16GB because my laptop has a non-functional CD/DVD drive. 3. On the 8GB drive I have ##### 3.0.3 with AnVal (http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=216726) - This works 4. On the 16GB drive I have my 10.6.3 Retail using these steps STEP 1: PREPARING THE USB DRIVE In this step, we must prepare a USB Drive to act as an installer for OS X. You may have installed an operating system before using a DVD. This is similar to installing using a DVD, but instead of the computer starting up and booting the DVD, it will start up and boot directly into an external USB drive with your modified OS X Installer DVD copied onto it. Boot into your existing OS X Installation. Insert your USB drive that you intend to use for booting the installer. Open Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility. Highlight your USB drive in the left column. Click the Partition Tab. Click Volume Scheme- choose 1 Partition. Click Options… Select GUID Partition Table. Click OK. In the Name: field type: InstallDrive In Format: field select Mac OS Extended (Case Sensitive, Journaled) Click Apply, then click Partition. Right click on InstallDrive in Finder or Desktop. Choose Get Info. In the lower right corner, click the lock icon open, type your password and un-check Ignore Ownership on this Volume checkbox. Click the lock icon closed. Insert Mac OS X Install DVD or mount Mac OS X Install DVD.dmg Switch back to Disk Utility. Highlight InstallDrive in the left column. Click Restore. Right click on Mac OS X Install DVD and choose Set as Source. Right click on InstallDrive and choose Set as Destination. Un-check Erase Destination checkbox. Click Restore, click Restore again, and then type your password. 5. I then added PC EFI 10.1 from tony-snowleopard zip file to the USB drive. Then downloaded PC EFI boot file 10.6 and dragged the file in the zip to the USB drive. So now I have a HDD (HFS+), #####, and Retail 10.6.3 ready. I can get to the boot screen fine and have entered: PCIRootUID=1 PCI RootUID=1 –x -x busratio=16 and 17 –v -v They’ve all worked and got me to the choose language, but as soon as I click the arrow to continue, the error saying “OSX cannot be installed on this computer” with the options of “Restoring from Time Machine” and “Restart”. So, that is where I’m stuck. Can anyone help get past this? I’m so close. DeeJumpz9m
I restarted and used the lastest ##### and Retail 10.6.0 as i was using 10.6.3 before and got past the installation part. My next problem is install the combo update. I've tried with 10.6.7, 10.6.6 and 10.3.3 but as soon as its about to be done it goes into a kernel panic or into the restart this computer message. When I restart I try and boot my Snow Leopard install, but tells me that I have to use ForceWake=y and I also put in busratio=16 -v, but it still won't run. I'm uploading a video right now. I'll post back when it's done. PS. I can boot in safe mode. Please help me I've spent 3 whole days already just doing this.
