After battling with three different graphics cards (XFX Radeon HD 5750, PNY GeForce 8300GS, Galaxy GeForce GT 430), I was finally able to get one working. The GT 430 is working perfectly with EFI strngs on SL 10.6.7, full resoluiton switching supported as well as QE/CI acceleration. Here's the issue:

My main goal with this install was to be able to edit video with Final Cut Pro. I was surprised to find that the HD video playback with the GT 430, while perfectly smooth and crisp in Windows, is terrible. It doesn't even process 720p very well, let alone 1080p. I was hoping to find some guidance.

Here's the question: is there any way to 'tweak' performance of a graphics card now that it's recognized correctly and accelerated? Any information I can get on this topic would be greatly appreciated. Also, let me know if you're having trouble getting one of these cards to work, I'd be more than happy to help you out.

Thanks to all!!!

So to make this even worse, all day yesterday for whatever reason, my HD video playback with smooth as silk. I was able to use iMovie and Final Cut Pro all day with no issues. So of course I boot up today and my video playback is once again choppy and jerky. What gives?!?

I tried this AGPM workaround, but come to find out that I'm using a MacPro3,1 smbios.plist which basically breaks the link with the AGPM.kext, so it's disabled already anyhow. Any other suggestions?
