skysurfer
I got an 8204wmli also and I am running into the same problem. I have installed 10.4.1 earlier and it boots up fine. But somehow can't get past through this screen on both 10.4.6myz and the 10.4.7Jas installing from DVD. Tried options such as -s -x cpus=1 platform=x86pc in different combinations and still ended up with the above panic error. Hmm....Read somewhere that disabling the onboard audio may help. However the current Acer 8204wmli bios does not offer that option...also read somewhere that removing AppleIntel8245XEthernet.kext might solve the problem - if you were to get it installed in the first place...argh...any thoughts anyone? skysurfer
Kolda try getting your hand on 10.4.6.install.dvd.iso - I think its the 10.4.6 jas release. I was able to install it on my 8204. However when it boots I get a kernel panic. Removed appleintel8254xethernet.kext and it boots now. Sound fix floating around works too. I'm working on making the ATI card work in 1680x1050 - it works in 1400x1050 now with artifacts...also since the appleintel8254xethernet.kext was removed, the wired ethernet port doesnt work either...will post a msg later on on what I had to do to install the osx on the Acer 8204. Good luck! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/25744-kernel-panic-while-trying-boot-from-dvd/#findComment-188813 Share on other sites
BuXb
You need to disable your LAN card in BIOS for some install DVD. Then after install remove the AppleIntel8254XEthernet.kext out of the IONetworkingFamily.kext, boot into BIOS, reenable LAN, reboot Mac OS.
