Slow installation on AMD system?

Hi there,

 

I recently tried installing OS X 10.4.6 on my laptop and desktop. These are the specs:

Laptop: Centrino Pentium M 1.4GHz, 1GB RAM, 60GB HDD

Desktop: Athlon64 3000+ (Abit AV8), 1GB RAM, 80GB HDD, Radeon 9800 Pro

 

Desktop took 1 hour to install. And after installation it will only boot to a black screen with just a cursor and audio playing. Plus I couldn't restart after installation was done (it said restarting in 25sec, but it didnt so i forced it)

 

On the laptop it installed in ~30min (much faster, despite slower HDD, DVD player .. etc) it all installed, BUT since I have the crappy Intel integrated GME 855 graphic its all black and white (so useless installation)

 

3 problems on my AMD system:

 

1. SLOW installation ??!!

2. Cannot restart ??!!

3. Black screen (with welcome music playing and cursor) after reboot !!??

 

ANy ideas or explanations for any one these ?
