Fux
Hi Guys, i installed leopard 10.6.6 sucessfully with hazard (with a pehnom 965 and crosshair 3). And Updated drivers for Lan, Graphics & Sound. Everything just works fine. So i thought it would be nice to upgrade to 8 gb memory (i bought a new 8gb kit). But when i try to boot with 8gb it just shows me for 5 seconds the booting screen and then restart , any1 has an idea why is that so? Another Question i have in mind is, when i boot with the aplle keyboard, i also stuck in the booting screen, so i have to boot with another keyboard .... thanks! bpod
I had the same problem with my AMD, update it to 10.6.7 then you can use the 8 gig. todesto
I had the same problem with my AMD, update it to 10.6.7 then you can use the 8 gig. which bootloader are you using? I am very interested to know. AMD with 8GB RAM will not boot under legacy kernel no matter what version you are in. you have to use maxmem=4094 to boot then the system only recognizes 4GB. If you don't have maxmem=4094, it will shut off and reboot depending what you have, but it will not boot. To boot AMD with 8GB RAM, you have boot 64bit mode, but then 32bit apps do not run under that system. To remedy the situation, you need to replace you kernel with ANV kernel which supports 32bit kernel / 64 bit userland. then boot with arch=i386 -force64 in your boot.plist, then it will boot with 8GB fully recognized. some 32bit apps don't work like garage band but I hear you can patch it using upx which I have not tried yet.
