viriiman
Decided to see what would happen if I tried to install Front Row on my PPC. Downloaded the newest enabled and the Front Row update from Apple. Everything appears to run properly, but it doesn't. When you try and go into either Keyboard/Mouse or Sound, it gives an error message: "Preferences Error You cannot open Keyboard & Mouse preferences on this computer. Contact the developer of this software for a newer version" Now, anyone have any idea on how to fix it? There are directions on the Enabler website to fix this issue, but only on 10.4 and I don't want to screw up the machine any more then it is. DiaboliK
gointo your big cat disk and open it up using pacifist and find the keyboard/mouse system pref.pane and install just that. repair permissions. reboot and you sould have a working pref pane again. hackand
Front Row comes standard with Leopard, why would you need the hack? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/25710-front-row-enabler-and-105-and-a-fix/#findComment-174008 Share on other sites

Got impatient. Loaded 10.5 to an external HD and transferred everything over (using the wizard in the initial setup). Then formatted my mini, and did the same thing again. It took most of the evening... but I was impatient. Thanks though. Front Row comes standard with Leopard, why would you need the hack? Read through this post for the answer. nato64
I seem to have a propensity of bringing dead threads to life, but does anyone have a fix yet? I really miss Front Row. Is Andrew Escobar is working on this? I sent him an e-mail and haven't heard from him. exdee
I doubt Andrew wants to risk putting out a controversial patch on an unreleased OS, but if it makes you feel any better (it won't), I've managed to get it working on 10.5 on my 400Mhz G4. Andrew's technique will more or less work the same way again, but it'll have to be updated for some minor changes in 10.5. I'd give a patch to you, but I don't know how to make patches.
