Abbotta4
Hi all, I just finished installing 10.6.3 on a second partition on my drive (which I think is somehow still an MBR drive) with Nawcom's ModCD, which from what I understand, loads up all of the drivers and kexts that I would need to install OS X on my computer by autodetecting my hardware. It installed fine and I can boot into it fine, but only with the aid of the ModCD in booting. I can only boot into my OS X partition by booting to it through the ModCD with the boot option of busratio=20 (I have an i7), because if I try booting with chameleon (even with the busratio=20 boot option), the screen just goes dark and then shuts itself down after two or three seconds. My first question is: Is there anyway I can get Chameleon to work like it should? Or should I reinstall using a method other than the ModCD? My second problem is that even when OS X boots up properly, three main things do not work. My display is set to 1024x768 (I think) with no other options. My resolution on Win7 is 1366x768 so when I boot into OS X the display is very stretched. I also had problems installing Logic Studios because the error told me I had 0mb of VRAM, which I KNOW is not true. Is there any way I can load up better resolutions or better utilization of my graphics hardware? The second thing that seems to be somewhat off is my audio setup. The speakers work fine from what I have tested, but even when not in use, they seem to spit out a fuzzy, scratchy noise that makes me somewhat nervous. My last problem is that WiFi does not seem to work. I am aware that this kind of technology is hard to perfect for stuff like this, but I just wanted to ask in case it is at all possible to get this to work. For the record, I will be using my OS X installation solely for developing music using Logic Studios (for now), hence the emphasis on fixing the sound If there is any additional information I should add or if anyone has any kind of information that would help me for any of these problems, please post or PM me! Thank you very much for reading! ~Abbott Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/256116-basic-post-installation-problems/ Share on other sites
Abbotta4
UPDATE: I have managed to fix my display by editing the com.apple.Boot.plist file and adding: <key>Graphics Manager</key> <string>1366x768x32@60</string> and I found here that I might be able to get rid of the sizzling speakers by replacing the VoodooHDA.kext with another version (2.6.0). I think that my booting problem with Chameleon is due to the lack of booting kexts and flags on my actual computer, versus having the ModCD load them up for me automatically every time I boot. I looked through the wiki and I could not find my computer exactly, but it seems like people are getting other Toshiba Satellites to work well, so I have faith If anyone could please direct me to where I should be finding the appropriate kexts for my computer, I would be eternally grateful. As of right now I seem to be unable to find any sort of black and white guide on how to determine which kexts I need exactly and where to find them. I most likely am not Googling correctly, so I apologize ahead of time if this is the case Thanks for being patient and reading! ~Abbott Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/256116-basic-post-installation-problems/#findComment-1679162 Share on other sites
