Nunya53
I have a question that will only require a simple yes/no answer. I have an HP Pavilion A6230N that I would like to run Snow Leopard on. I have a Macbook Pro with an install disk I can rip the OS from and configure a boot USB device with. Here are the specs, so please let me know if I should experiment further or stop now. Thanks. Gringo Vermelho
No, that DVD will only work on that particular model MacBookPro. You need a real retail DVD. Nunya53
Alright, that being said...is the computer I want to hackintosh viable? Thanks, Nunya Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/255564-total-newbie-question/#findComment-1674226 Share on other sites
Vince Chen
However,I think maybe you should back up your data and have a try. I also installed the snowleopard on my sony with a disk enclosed with a macbook pro. That is not a retail disk of Sl. Gringo Vermelho
You need to research the following: Find the manufacturer and model name of the network and sound hardware, then forum search for working drivers/solutions. Find out if anyone has working video with the GeForce 6150 SE on Snow Leopard. According to Krazubu (google 'guide for all nvidia boards') integrated nvidia graphics controllers with shared memory are not supported by the OS X nvidia drivers. Generally, NV50 family cards have a high compatibility rate. Geforce 9500 GT is cheap and easy to get going. http://nouveau.freedesktop.org/wiki/CodeNames#NV50 Find out if anything special is needed for the nForce 430 chipset, specifically the southbridge part which is where the drive- and USB controllers are. User "verdant" knows his way around the nforce chipset, try to find his guides. The rest of the specs you posted are useless. Gringo Vermelho
Good luck. Get an Intel CPU + motherboard with Intel chipset. Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/255564-total-newbie-question/#findComment-1674430 Share on other sites
