Hi to all!

I'm new to this community and on macosx86 project too. I installed successfully iAtkos on my system but i have only one problem.

I think that my graphics are not as expected. No smoothing at all, something like "graphics skipping". It also fails on 3.0, 3.1, 3.2 and 3.3 OpenGL Tests.

I've installed some kexts i found on the web and i have full resolution support on my both monitors (DVI to HDMI and DVI to VGA for my TV).

Can anybody help me to find what's going on?

My Graphics Card info:

NVidia, 9800GTX+ by TwinTech

Device ID 0x0612.

I've already read this guide: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=243516

but without any luck :)

When i'm trying to install NVidia Update which released before some months (as i searched), i get a black screen on boot and i have to delete all NV*.kext files to boot normally again.

Install retail OS X using a suitable boot CD.

It also fails on 3.0, 3.1, 3.2 and 3.3 OpenGL Tests.

This is normal, there is no OpenGL 3 support in Snow Leopard.

My old 9800GTX+ (0x0612 like yours) worked perfectly (full acceleration, display mirroring/rotation, analog TV-out, dual displays etc) with just Chameleon GraphicsEnabler=y. I never tried plugging in a HDMI monitor though. The guide you linked to is obsolete, all you need is an injection method (like GraphicsEnabler or NVEnabler), 0x0612 works with unmodified Nvidia drivers.

OpenGL Extensions Viewer scores were around 4000 at 1280x1024, Cinebench was 27.something.

If you experience crashes or can't boot after installing the latest nvidia drivers then something is wrong, they should work fine with your video card. Try installing retail OS X. It is hard to get help with distros, most experienced users run retail OS X, it is easier to troubleshoot, hacked install DVDs/distros have files removed/patched, etc, it could be anything.

OK, i got a retail dvd and made the installation today!

All was perfect, full graphics acceleration like you said, but when i updated on 10.6.7, i had a black screen on boot. So i booted in safe mode and deleted all nv*.kext files and now i don't have support for my card.

Maybe you have any idea or i just have to reinstall? And if i reinstall, i can't update to 10.6.7?

All was perfect, full graphics acceleration like you said, but when i updated on 10.6.7, i had a black screen on boot.

I don't know why it would do that, mine worked fine all the way to 10.6.7 with no modifications, just NVenabler.kext, DSDT gfx0 device or GraphicsEnabler=y. Which basically are three ways to do the same thing.

I guess it's possible that it's more of a motherboard issue but I don't know where you could start looking for solutions.

Can you still boot in safe mode? Try booting in safe mode and then install the Nvidia Quadro 4000 drivers (nvidia.com/drivers).

I guess you could try booting your install DVD and repair permissions with Disk Utility.

Are you using HDMI or DVI? Try DVI, it could be a HDMI issue.

By safe mode i mean with -x. -s (straight to command line) is known as "single user mode".

You can also type GraphicsEnabler=n at the prompt to deactivate GraphicsEnabler until the next boot. This can be useful for troubleshooting purposes.

Try installing the Quadro 4000 drivers then. I was using those on my 9800 GTX+ before I got my GTX 460.

Note, you must be running at least 10.6.5, and the driver will not install if you're not using a MacPro3,1, 4,1 or 5,1 model identifier.

Bonus häagen-dazs hints:

You can edit 'distribution.dist' inside the installer package (pull it off of the disk image first) and change the model identifier requirement so that it matches yours, then the driver will install. Just open the file with textedit. You'll know what to do once you're looking at the file. If not just ask.

If your CPU is a Core 2 Duo or Quad, you should be using MacPro3,1.

Installed Quadro Drivers without any luck so i re-installed the hole system to start from a clean OS again.

Installed 10.6.6 combo update, and again i can boot only with GraphicsEnabler=n. If i enable graphics, my monitor turn off on boot.

Installed Quadro Drivers on my new installation, with the same problem :P

Tried to Change the Graphics Mode from bootloader but again the same.

I can't understand why it's working perfectly on 10.6 and when i update it messes it up!

Hmm.. i found something..

When i connect my main monitor with DVI -> HDMI cable, it leaves black screen.

I disconnected this monitor, and i connected only my TV with DVI -> VGA Cable and works like a charm!

Any way to get both monitors working?

I'm trying to get my main monitor work with DVI -> DVI cable now just to check.

Excellent, congrats.

I hadn't tried HDMI with my 9800GTX+ so I wasn't aware of any issues.

...

Maybe OS X is having trouble correctly identifying your display connection as HDMI.

There is a discussion over on the ProjectOSX forums related to HDMI audio that also has some info on HDMI display detection and how it works in OS X, try to find it.

It probably won't make any difference but do you have the HDMI audio pass-through cable from your mobo to the 9800GTX+ connected?

It's possible that it's related to the audio part of the HDMI signal not being there on an 9800 GTX+.
