vmenge
After a few days of pure headaches I finally managed to get installation to start on my computer, but now I have another problem: Disk Utility doesn't find any HD at all, only the external DVD reader. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/255232-disk-utility-not-finding-hard-drives/ Share on other sites
Gringo Vermelho
Your install DVD has no drivers for your motherboard's drive controller....didn't we already have this conversation? /EDIT ahh no, that was this dude: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=254896 The quickest way to get around this is to use an external hard drive - since your external DVD drive works, an external hard drive should work as well. The slowest way to attempt getting around this would be trying different install DVDs until you find one that works with your hardware. The most complicated way is to use an install method that allows you to add drivers yourself post-install - such as a homemade boot CD or flash drive. Of course it is only possible to do this if such a driver exists. And in this situation it helps to have access to a working Hackintosh or a real Mac. The most expensive way to get around this is to buy a compatible motherboard with Intel chipset. vmenge
Unfortunately I was getting I weird message every time I tried booting up from CD with my Seagate external HD connected (image in attachments), so I had to disconnect my external HD, and connect it after the installer was loaded. However, weirdly enough there is no option to partition my external HD (it's already partitioned, but still there is 80GBs of unallocated space). I successfully installed the OS, but once restarting I have the same message from before if I boot form the CD with the HD connected. If I boot from the USB Hard Drive I get a message telling me to put a proper boot device. I'm going to try backing up the stuff from my portable HD reformatting it to see if I can partition it through the installer.
