jamesah
Theoretically, this will work for any USB wifi receiver that windows has drivers for. The only setback would be if your mac will not recognize the device AT ALL. If you can go into "about this mac" and "more info" then click USB- see if your USB wifi stick shows up at all. That should be a good indicator on whether or not this will work for you. There may be ways to get it recognized but not fully working using kexts or something but I don't think I needed any kexts. Items needed: Wireless connection that works under windows/parallels (USB stick in this video) Parallels Windows OS installed on parallels (I used my second hard drive that has windows on it for dual booting- it was recognized as boot camp) Patience Video Tutorial:http://www.vimeo.com/22525426 For some stupid reason the audio didn't work when I put it on youtube. I'll see what I can do but for now Pizza Hut is waiting on me. Parallels Terminal Info Required http://kb.parallels.com/en/9243 Original Post So... my WPN111 Netgear adapter doesn't work for wifi and I can't figure out how to get it to work. Since this is the only wifi adapter I have on my desktop, it's the only way I can connect to my wireless network and print remotely. Is there any way I can share my VMware's wireless connection INTO my native OS X install? I can connect to the wifi network using the USB adapter when I set the VMware machine to "bridged." I just don't know how to share that wifi connection to my pc. I'd prefer something that doesn't use up so many resources. I suppose I'll look into running a very efficient linux distro or slimmed down windows in order to get this working. I'm also open to suggestions for any other type of Virtual Machine apps. Guess this is better than nothing. Did some google searching. Found an answer that makes some sense. Hopefully I can come back and make a full blown tutorial. Right now this windows 7 VM is gonna kill my resources but I will be happy with this wifi. Basically I just make a VM-Host only connection and then use ICS to share the wifi connection to my host. "Paravirtualization" is the terminology for this. I'm actually pretty damned excited about this now! This is gonna be great! jamesah
I got it working via parallels. I'm making a tutorial right now. VMware is a pain in the butt. ahilahil I dunno if this will work for you. This is specifically geared for using a USB wifi stick. If you're trying to use internal wifi, it may be troublesome to have your hardware recognized by the Virtual Machine. I say go for it! Starting the video recording now.
