Hello, Im new here and sorry for the newbish question. But yea How can I create a Snow leopard installation disk with a .dmg retail thanks.

Here's a link where I explain how to install Snow Leopard using nawcom's ModCD and ModUSB.

ASUS CG5290 Snow Leopard install instructions

Here's the link to the nawcom ModCD...

I believe the ModUSB is more up to date, but you need an already functioning Mac to make the ModUSB. So I burned the ModCD on my Windows 7 machine. I then used the ModCD with the retail OS X 10.6.3 disk to install a working copy of Snow Leopard. After that I made the ModUSB and did another install. Kind of cumbersome but its a lot easier than borrowing a Mac and asking a friend for their password.

When you use the ModCD it will eventually get to a bootloader menu and pause. At that time take out the ModCD and place the retail OS X 10.6.3 disk in the DVD drive. Hit F5, I believe, and it will refresh the menu and you will be able to select the OS X retail DVD. Then you're off to the races.

Do NOT use the DSDT file in my previous post. It is only for a specific computer with a specific BIOS. You're machine may run fine without one anyway.

Good luck.

Link should be working now. Okay I think I misunderstood you. I guess you have a Snow Leopard install disk .dmg (basically an image of the DVD) and you want to make an install DVD? Is that correct? You'll need a blank DVD and a working Mac or Hackintosh to burn the image.

You do realize you can BUY a working Snow Leopard DVD from any Apple store or online for $30? $30 for a Mac ain't bad my friend. I'm assuming you didn't realize how reasonably priced the install disk is.

I may be misunderstanding you again but... I have to get on my soap box here. I think as long as you pay full price for a piece of software and use it on your own hardware you should be able to use it as you please. The notion floated around some corners of the internet that a Hackintosh is somehow illegal is absurd. Steve Jobs and Wozniak started off as hobbyists doing far more dubious things than installing OS X on a non Apple computer... remember the Blue box?

Where I draw the line is when people want a full blown Mac AND they don't want to pay a penny. I apologize if this is not what you are insinuating.
