jagg
Hello. Let me start off by saying that I'm semi-computer literate. I know a good amount, but probably not enough. I'm also on somewhat of a time crunch at university right now so I barely have the time to read up on the details of installing osx86. I know this is unfair, and makes me silly for trying to install it when I don't have the time/respect to look up on it, but at this point I'm simply trying to get my old computer back. Hopefully this is some kind of compromise, but I really don't know what to do. I got my hands on the IATKOS v7 for leopard a few days ago. I wanted to install it because I'm considering buying a mac and wanted to try it out myself on my PC. Here are the steps I took: 1) Burned the .iso to a dvd 2) Made a blank partition from another (that did not include my windows 7 OS, if that matters) that i shrank. 3) Booted from the DVD and erased the new partition using Disk Utility, I think as just Mac (not case sensitive, not journaled) 4) Tried installing from the best I could tell would work, again. 5) Reboot the computer from the HDD, got nothing but a blinking cursor. Couldn't even type. 6) Redid 4 and 5 three times, with varying options that looked like they might work. 7) Used Disk Utility to completely erase new partition as FAT32. Rebooted, same blinking problem. 8) Came here I really just want to be able to start up Windows from my C drive again. Maybe its no longer the primary partition (or something)? I don't know if I can fix this issue using disk utility. I'm wary of touching C with Disk Utility from the DVD booter, just because I know that I really don't know what I'm doing and I do NOT want to mess C up. So far the only thing I have touched is that new partition. But erasing it failed to help. Dell Latitude E6500 Core2Duo , 4 Gigs RAM, NVidia quad core graphics card of some sort (NVS?) could get more details if needed but they're across campus. Ideas? Thank you in advance, and sorry for my inability to deeply research this. I'm simply assuming that the act of getting back to my original state is a (relatively) short process, if possible.
