wakeboardguy82 Posted April 9, 2011 Share Posted April 9, 2011 I have every thing working on 10.6.4 but i want to update to 10.6.6 I have tried many times. When the desktop tries to boot up i just get a blue screen and it changes to light blue then to a darker blue. If i boot up in safe mode it works. My graphics card shows in system profiler. I am using the ATY_initi.kext, I modified it to Vervet and added my device ID to ATI5000Controller.kext I know this is only a 32bit kext is there a way to boot 10.6.6 in 32bit? When I installed the legacy kernel for 10.6.4 i unchecked force 64 bit, i can't do that with the 10.6.6 legacy kernel. I have tried the RC5 ATI experimental boot loader it didnt work for me. What can i do to get to 10.6.6 I don't mind if it is 32bit only. I installed graphics update 1.0 for snow leopard. Then installed 10.6.6 combo update. Then installed 10.6.6 Legacy Kernel. Modified com.apple.boot.plist and deleted -force64. Kept string arch=i386 (this is for 32 bit only) the used kext helper to install ATY_inti.kext for 10.6.6 found here http://www.kexts.com/view/913-sapphire_rad...aphic_card.html Then restarted and everything works. 64bit is not a big deal to me I only have 3gig of ram. It can only be installed on osx 10.6.4 Im not sure if it is required to make the card work but I did install in before updating to 10.6.6 and my card ened up working. Just follow the steps.
