dansc
Just getting together my G5 case mod at the moment. Have the motherboard tray and the case is on its way. I have a quick question about fixing the the tray to the back of the case. What are the diameter of the little holes? I would like to order some bolts to suit. Gus.Carrie
If you mean the holes in the G5 case, a way to find out is to get your drill and just try and slide them into the holes, too much space the drill bit is too small, won't go in too big. Not the most accurate thing but should be good enough for what you want i think. dansc
Yep talking about the holes already in the case. This is what I will likely do when the case arrives. Was just hoping for an answer here so I can order some now. This way i'll have everything I need to hand when I start. It gives a better look and seems more solid BTW, the holes are 3mm (diameter) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/254381-g5-case-hole-size/#findComment-1667805 Share on other sites
dansc
Great! thanks for the info. Riveting is also a good idea but I dont really fancy buying a gun just for a one off use. Not likely to spend much time looking at the back of the case anyway so some hex bolts will do the job. Instead of hex bolts you can get some flat phillips machine screws at a local hardware store to keep with the "mac" look. I believe they have it in 4mm size.
