thorny23
Hi all, I have been following the OSx86 scene for a while now and have always wnated to jump on the wagon; so to speak. I have now just been give an Advent QC6003 Desktop PC and really want to try put OSx86 on it instead of the hugely unreliable Windows. Not only that but I like to tinker with things and get to know different platforms. I am aware of iAtkos, iDeneb and iPC and of course Kalway, I was wondering which of these distributions would be best for my Desktop Specifications as I cannot find a definitive answer. I am a bit weary of choosing Kernels etc and wouldn't want to get this wrong, alongside choosing the "extras" such as ethernet options etc upon install so any further guidance on this would be brilliant. I can assure you I have taken a look on the forums for any other possible help but I would really appreciate it if someone could spare some guidance I have included my full computer summary below; Computer: Motherboard: CPU Type QuadCore Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200, 2333 MHz (7 x 333) Motherboard Name Intel Icedale DG45ID (1 PCI, 2 PCI-E x1, 1 PCI-E x16, 4 DDR2 DIMM, Audio, Video, Gigabit LAN, IEEE-1394) Motherboard Chipset Intel Eaglelake G45 System Memory 6042 MB (DDR2-667 DDR2 SDRAM) DIMM1: Micron 16HTF25664AY-667E1 2 GB DDR2-667 DDR2 SDRAM (5-5-5-15 @ 333 MHz) (4-4-4-12 @ 266 MHz) (3-3-3-9 @ 200 MHz) DIMM2: Micron 16HTF25664AY-667E1 2 GB DDR2-667 DDR2 SDRAM (5-5-5-15 @ 333 MHz) (4-4-4-12 @ 266 MHz) (3-3-3-9 @ 200 MHz) DIMM3: Samsung M3 78T2863QZS-CE6 1 GB DDR2-667 DDR2 SDRAM (5-5-5-15 @ 333 MHz) (4-4-4-12 @ 266 MHz) (3-3-3-9 @ 200 MHz) DIMM4: Samsung M3 78T2863QZS-CE6 1 GB DDR2-667 DDR2 SDRAM (5-5-5-15 @ 333 MHz) (4-4-4-12 @ 266 MHz) (3-3-3-9 @ 200 MHz) BIOS Type AMI (09/24/08) Communication Port RIM Virtual Serial Port v2 (COM3) Communication Port RIM Virtual Serial Port v2 (COM4) Display: Video Adapter Intel(R) G45/G43 Express Chipset (2864248 KB) Video Adapter Intel(R) G45/G43 Express Chipset (2864248 KB) 3D Accelerator Intel GMA X4500(HD) Multimedia: Audio Adapter IDT 92HD73E1/92HDW74E1 @ Intel 82801JB ICH10 - High Definition Audio Controller Audio Adapter Intel HDMI @ Intel 82801JB ICH10 - High Definition Audio Controller Storage: IDE Controller Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller IDE Controller Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller IDE Controller Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller Disk Drive Generic USB CF Reader USB Device Disk Drive Generic USB MS Reader USB Device Disk Drive Generic USB SD Reader USB Device Disk Drive Generic USB xD/SM Reader USB Device Disk Drive MAXTOR STM3160215AS ATA Device (160 GB, 7200 RPM, SATA-II) Disk Drive WDC WD6400AAKS-00A7B0 ATA Device (596 GB, IDE) Optical Drive TSSTcorp CDDVDW TS-H653F ATA Device (DVD+R9:16x, DVD-R9:12x, DVD+RW:22x/8x, DVD-RW:22x/6x, DVD-RAM:12x, DVD-ROM:16x, CD:48x/32x/48x DVD+RW/DVD-RW/DVD-RAM) SMART Hard Disks Status OK Partitions: C: (NTFS) 29999 MB (2424 MB free) E: (NTFS) 119.8 GB (31.1 GB free) Total Size 149.0 GB (33.4 GB free) Input: Keyboard HID Keyboard Device Keyboard HID Keyboard Device Mouse HID-compliant mouse Network: Primary IP Address 10.0.0.2 Primary MAC Address 00-1C-C0-7E-E5-33 Network Adapter Intel(R) 82567LF-2 Gigabit Network Connection (10.0.0.2) Modem Standard Modem Peripherals: Kind regards Sam Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/254011-osx-on-advent-qc6003/ Share on other sites
