GTOutlaw
Hey everyone. Firstly i want to say thanks to all the people who have posted on these forums and all the information that is available and has helped me thus far. keep it up!! i have my desktop machine (Core2Quad) which i have hacked and have SL running there mostly very stable. i am into music production so its great to have logic running without having to spend £2000 on the latest mac pro. so i recently bought a laptop to take away with me while i am travelling and wanted to give it the same treatment. i have heard that Sony Vaio's have traditionally a bit tricky to hack but i'm still holding out hope for this even after re-installing SL about 20+ times already!! i hope someone can help anyway... here is the spec and this what i've tried so far. 1. ##### from TonyMac. i get a Memory allocation error. something to do with ati.c and i can't get to the install screen. tried graphicsenabler=no but no luck. 2. iatkos S3 V2. will install to 10.6.3 but unable to update (see 3) 3. modCD from Nawcom 0.31 + retail DVD. will install 10.6.3 but when i try and run the combo update 10.6.6 i get the apple logo and spinning circle and that's it!!! -v doesn't reveal any obvious error during bootup. it sees the disk ok. gets to a certain place and just stops. boot strings in E\E are as follows (i have a win7 disk as well): <key>Kernel</key> <string>legacy_kernel</string> <key>Kernel Flags</key> <string>arch=i386</string> <key>Rename Partition</key> <string>"System Reserved" Windows</string> <key>Timeout</key> <string>5</string> i only get vga graphics at 10.6.3 (1024x768) but wanted to get to 10.6.6 before i try and get the gfx to work properly. (ATI Radeon 5470 - i know that'll be a big challenge too). i could also get my wifi to work with an update IO80211Family.kext from kext.com. ##### seems to break it as it installs a new bootloader (i don't even get the spinning circle when it starts). also -x just hangs as well. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. what should i be looking at first or what additional info is required to get this to update?? thanks
