Bender6681
I am running 10.5.8 and decided to upgrade my hdd. I tried to make a dmg image of my install and restore from disk utility after booting to the install dvd. Now i can only boot the os if the install dvd is in the drive. I have tried to make my install partition active but cant. I have used disk utility, carbon copy and a clean install with the same results. Here is the results of diskutil list and fdisk /dev/rdisk0. diskutil list /dev/disk0 #: TYPE NAME SIZE IDENTIFIER 0: GUID_partition_scheme *1.8 Ti disk0 1: EFI 200.0 Mi disk0s1 2: Apple_HFS Videos 1.8 Ti disk0s2 /dev/disk1 #: TYPE NAME SIZE IDENTIFIER 0: Apple_partition_scheme *1.8 Ti disk1 1: Apple_partition_map 31.5 Ki disk1s1 2: Apple_HFS Leopard 350.0 Gi disk1s3 3: Apple_HFS Storage 1.5 Ti disk1s5 /dev/disk2 #: TYPE NAME SIZE IDENTIFIER 0: Apple_partition_scheme *3.9 Gi disk2 1: Apple_partition_map 31.5 Ki disk2s1 2: Apple_HFS iDeneb v1.6 10.5.8 Lite Edition3.8 Gi disk2s2 and fdisk /dev/rdisk1 Disk: /dev/rdisk1 geometry: -1539437/4/63 [-387938128 sectors] Signature: 0x0 Starting Ending #: id cyl hd sec - cyl hd sec [ start - size] ------------------------------------------------------------------------ 1: 00 0 0 0 - 0 0 0 [ 0 - 0] unused 2: 00 0 0 0 - 0 0 0 [ 0 - 0] unused 3: 00 0 0 0 - 0 0 0 [ 0 - 0] unused 4: 00 0 0 0 - 0 0 0 [ 0 - 0] unused Should my videos drive have that efi partition? I know a bit of stuff but get fuzzy when dealing with partitions and this efi stuff. Does anyone know how to correct this so i can boot from my hdd without needing the dvd? Dellmantt
Install chameleon to your new drive. CCC etc does not clone the chameleon part.
Bender6681
at this point im on a clean install not even using the cloned image. I installed with chameleon selected like i have always done. What im not understanding is why my fdisk shows all zeros on that drive. I have run the fdisk command on all the rdisks to double check to make sure i am selecting the correct one and all show zeros except my videos drive. Dellmantt
Oh dear Look One of your disks has an Apple_partition_scheme this will only boot on a power pc mac. If this is it 0: Apple_partition_scheme *1.8 Ti disk1 1: Apple_partition_map 31.5 Ki disk1s1 2: Apple_HFS Leopard 350.0 Gi disk1s3 It won't work And disk list for DVD is fine
