macG
Folks, I am new to this forum. I was going through some of the threads regarding the Mac installation on the x86 platforms, it sounds very interesting. I was curious, if anyone had any success on installing a Mac OS X on a x86 platform that supports native EFI. If Mac OS-x bootloader is solely dependant on EFI calls to boot the OS and does not check for the Apple hardware, theoretically we should be able to install Mac OS on x86 platforms (of course the ones that support EFI). Is this assumption correct? Have anyone had success on installing Mac OS x on Intel motherboards that are sold in the market? Any pointers in this area will be highly appreciated ~G Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/25387-mac-osx-installation-on-an-efi-motherboard/ Share on other sites
Guest bikedude880
The bootloader is not solely dependant of EFI, though it does help. There is ussualy a little chip on the motherboard called TPM, or "Trusted Platform Module" There is a section on this site solely dedicated to EFI, you might want to check it out.
