psychegr
Hi there! I have succesfully installed Snow Leopard on a desktop with the following configuration: 2.4GHz Quad Core Intel Asus P5B-VM SE 2GB Ram Ati x1550 series Graphics Card. I used the iAtkos S3 v2 DVD with SL 10.6.3 and it installed perfectly. I updated to 10.6.6 combo without problems. Everything works fine except 2 things. One is that it wont recognise the VGA card and the other is that it wont install some apps like #####, kext utility and others. Now to the main subject. I have tried various guides and kext files in order to recognise the vga card but i don't have any success yet. I searched on the forum and i used almost all guides in order to make it work but everything fails. I am asking for kext files and a way to make it work! My vga card ID is 7143 and it is a ati x1550 series card. Or even a guide on how to make my own kext for this purpose! Thank you in advance Padelis EDIT: My system runs on 64bit! And i discovered a few moments ago that the ATIRadeonX1000.kext does load because it doesn't support 64bit! Tried to boot in 32bit but the graphics are corrupted! Are there any kexts for 64bit? buoo
if I remember correctly the x1550 doesn't work in Snow. You have to change your graphics card or install Leopard 10.5.X Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/253683-ati-x1550-drivers-or-how-to-request/#findComment-1663433 Share on other sites
psychegr
Thank you for your reply! But i have to tell you that i finally made it to work! What i did was to use the EVOenabler.kext and change the name to Megalodon! This did the work! It detected both outputs! At least it detects it! I will post the steps that i did in the near future as soon as i will make it work fully! i can't select any other resolution than 1024x768 and despite the fact that i have connected the second screen i dont have an option for it! It is a clone of the first screen! Any thoughts on that?
