Hello all,

I have built several Hackintoshes using an EX58-UD5, however, I am using the G31M-ES2L right now. I got my machine to boot, update, use dual monitors, sound to work, sleep, restart, and shut down, however, every time I boot, my BIOS gives me a CMOS Checksum error. It fails to post, counts down, then reboots. Even after loading failsafe mode, I still get this error. So I have tried many, many permutations of overclocking, and sometimes avoid the error, however, when I boot, the "About This Mac" specs return to the factory settings. So, I am thinking I have an outdated BIOS version. My question is in several parts. One, does anyone have any overclocking suggestions? Can anyone tell me how to update my BIOS, in simple, easy to understand terms? I have a USB drive, but I am unsure exactly how to make it bootable using a Hackintosh. Do I have to use a windows based computer to set that up? Not exactly confused, and I think I am narrowing down my problems, but I am going to need a bit of help to get this done. Please respond, and I thank you in advance.

Here are my specs:

Intel Core 2 Duo e8400 3.0 GHz

Gigabyte G31M ES2L MOBO

1 DVD-R/RW Combo drive (IDE)

1 DVD-ROM/CD-RW drive (IDE)

4 GB RAM

NVIDIA GeForce 8800 384 MB Graphics card

1.5 TB HDD Space (one 1 TB HDD with backups of apps, and one 500 GB HDD with apps and OSX)
