JHPJHP
Hi, First... thanks to the brilliant people who allowed me to do the following: - installed snowvmw with legacy - installed ensoniqaudiopci-2 - installed vmsvga2-1.2.3 - installed vmware_tools from iso - installed guestd_patches - updated to 10.6.7 from download - applied iousbfamily-378 before reboot - completed full software update - switch to legacybootcd - installed voodoops2controller-0.98 - installed myhackinstaller-1.1 - re-installed voodoops2controller-0.98 - installed vmmouse-1.2.1 Now the problem... Using VMWare I'm not able to set the GuestOS to darwin10-64, I'm only able to use other-64. (hardware virtualization vs software virtualization) - I've enabled hardware Virtualization in the BIOS - Tested it with the HAV Detection tool - passed If I set it to darwin10-64 I get the dreaded: "Mac OS X not supported with soft... you need a host on which VMware Workstation supports hardware ..." Host: Windows 7 (Ultimate) 64 bit Guest: OS X 10.6.7 Tool: VMWare Workstation 7.1.4 Hardware: HP Pavillion dv6000 - 4Gb Ram BIOS: F.43 Thank you for any help! Donk
Please see attached (images)... Could it be a "Windows Features" I turned off or a Service I disabled? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller, anyone? Really I don't understand what you have all that stuff installed for. Read this thread http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=243274 and you will get a far better experience. My guess is that the VMX file parameters are not correct, but also I don't understand why thins like USB kexts are needed as VMware works pretty much with Vanilla retail media. MSoK
Please see attached (images)... Could it be a "Windows Features" I turned off or a Service I disabled? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller, anyone? Am I missing something here, but your CPU is AMD so you are going to need a third party OS X kernel, so guestOS = "darwin10-64" is never going to work, so Donk's, Albert's and unfortunately my (MSoK) topics are not going to help, well you may be able to use some of the fuctionality once you have sorted the kernel with AMD support, the best advise is have a look a Zenith432's "Snow Kitty" topic (link below) to offer a way forward, unless someone has a better solution? http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...t&p=1288448 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/253566-getting-hardware-virtualization-not-supported/#findComment-1665035 Share on other sites
JHPJHP
Thanks for the reply Donk, *** really appreciate the work you have done and continue to do *** Currently my system is running smoothly, be it a little slowly due to software virtualization. Everything in my list at one point was a necessity, in order to move forward towards my current stable system; a reminder to me of what I had done... also, see attached vmx file: Mac Son of Knife - thank you for your post (another icon in the industry), I originally used the darwin_legacy iso to boot from, but since installed the EFI Bootloader... using the [-v] option I don't see any issues - OSX runs smoothly, but slow due to Software Virtualization: "monitor.virtual_mmu" and "monitor.virtual_exec" have no effect - I set them as "automatic" to avoid the message that Software Virtualization is being used. Found this: http://communities.vmware.com/thread/207100 To test things I ported over to VirtualBox, and speed is no longer an issue. I prefer VMWare, but until VMWare supports AMD-V on processors prior to Family 10h - VirtualBox (at least for OSX) will do. If either of you have any more suggestions - please send them my way - your support has been invaluable, and helped so many of us! Thank you, OSX.txt Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/253566-getting-hardware-virtualization-not-supported/#findComment-1665057 Share on other sites
JHPJHP
Hey Donk & Mac Son of Knife, Decided to try a complete Vanilla build - definitely a smoother / faster process, and it helped to start from InsanelyMac, with some good advice. Originally I mixed and matched - not only from various methods, but also from various versions, some of these years old; hence the long list of installs. To my own account, I ended up at the same place I finished originally - slow due to running in software virtualization as opposed to hardware virtualization. Thank you again for your work and advice, Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/253566-getting-hardware-virtualization-not-supported/#findComment-1665212 Share on other sites
