n0r3k
Hi! After 3 years I've finally found a version that actually does work on my PC. I'm able to boot only in safe mode and I have absolutely no idea what the problem is. But that's a start I guess. So, I got a SL DVD 10.6.1 - 10.6.2 SSE2/SSE3 by Hazard. I was able to boot 10.6.2 in safe mode as well but it hang at welcome screen when I had to choose whether or not to sync files with other Macs, so I'll stick with the 10.6.1 for now. I'd like to build a stable version of a Mac for my PC before I go and experiment with others. So, here's the kernel output while booting in normal mode with arch=i386. I'm sure you have tremendous experience and you can help me boot normally. Any tips? Is it a hardware issue or I just need to delete something or change some kexts ... Any help highly appreciated. Thanks!
n0r3k
Since no one has answered this, I`m gonna write an update post with my experience in case someone has the same issues. I read that iAtkos S3 V2 is better than Hazard (newer as well), so I gave it a try. After all installs the kernel didn`t even boot. It was just black screen. Kernel, system logs are empty. No idea what`s wrong. So, I copied kernel from hazards installation. Eureka! A normal boot in normal mode. PS/2 not recognized (can be fixed with kext, I think I`m just gonna copy the one from hazards install cause that worked fine). I came up with a network card error RTL8139, the speed was very low ~30kbps +/-. I`m just gonna try kext from hazard as it worked fine. Also I have a Realtek R1000 controller on-board, gonna try the kext from hazard as well. Remember it had one. These problems I think are fixable. Still, no sound. Got a Realter AC`97 controller on-board. Gonna update this topic in a while. If you have similar experience or any suggestions, please, feel free. Thanks! UPDATE : Got sound working - 2.1 though. Better than nothing. AppleAC97Audio.kext PS/2 working, ethernet cards both working. ApplePS2Controller.kext Sleep not working but I'll live Applied combo patch 10.6.7, ##### fixes and legacy kernel 10.7.0 - everything works like a charm. Had some PS/2 issues. Haven't yet checked if working. The only thing is that my "About this mac" instead of the info shows ABOUT_BOX_VERSION_FORMAT_STRING etc.... UPDATE : Ok, so I've managed to fix everything except the 5.1 sound. Need the front speaker working at least Sleep works as well with SleepEnabler.kext from 10.6.7 update patched by 10.7.0 legacy_kernel installer. Since I switched to DVI video, graphics works without EFI string, with GraphicsEnabler=Yes only.
