kramer2k
So I've got a sound card with the CMI 8738 chipset and I am using the dogbert .kext files, but when listening to my music, there is a definately a lack of sound in the mid-range (meaning voices are very distant and quiet) with the songs being dominated by the bass and high trebles. Anyone else having the same type of issues similar to this? Or perhaps a newly super-duper kext that I am not aware of? Thanks yall... And as a point, did you know that Chuck norris doesn't tea bag you, he potato sacks ya! DK
dogbert
no, the analog hardware of the soundcard is simply crappy³ and there is no way to fix it in software. I'm using a hardware version with SPDIF output, which delivers bit-perfect output from the driver through the soundcard to the receiver/amplifier. Apple's CoreAudio unfortunately uses a floating point format iirc, so that a bit-perfect delivery isn't possible from an application's point of view due to rounding errors.
