Hello

I recently upgraded to 10.6.7. All went fine.

My iTunes Lib is on a second HD.

I can start applications and browse the web. If i open itunes an start playing a song the OS instantly freezes.

I can't move the mouse or use the keyboard. The funny thing the music plays fine in background.

If the song is finished the PC is complete dead. I have to switch off.

Any hints?

I'm hesitant to post this as a fix, because the freezing was so erratic, but I was having the same problem until I used a Disabler.kext to stop AppleUpstreamUserClient from loading. Thread here.

After doing that, iTunes has been rock-solid. I played some Starcraft 2 with it running, I worked in Photoshop, nothing seems to make it crash now.

Worth a shot?

Edit: One day later, I'm convinced that this is the fix. I haven't had another iTunes crash since I added the Diabler kext. And, because I forgot to include it, my system information:

nVidia GeForce 8800GT

Thank you. I guess it would help me too.

But maybe i'm to silly but i can't find the download link for the kext.

If i click on the link i always start at the same thread.

It would be nice if you could get me a direct link.

The post you're looking for is #199, by stellarola. Download that Disabler.kext and add it to the /Extra/Extensions folder in your Chameleon partition.

If that link isn't working, try this one: Disabler.kext.zip
