shifuimam
I've looked in google, these forums, the osx86 Project wiki, and somewhere over the rainbow. I cannot boot into OS X for the life of me. Back when the tiger.bz2 image was the only thing around, I managed to get it to work on my desktop with Windows XP and the chain0 file. Now that won't work. I've tried the chain0 + boot.ini entry with no success. I have tried every suggested configuration in my GRUB menu.lst file with no success. I get the dreaded Error 13 message about an incompatible executable. I know OS X is there. I've mounted the drive in Suse, and it sure looks like it's there. It installed with no issues. I also saw somewhere that someone booted off the OS X install DVD, and that got it working. Not so. Darwin only saw the DVD as a valid boot device. Have I somehow borked my OS X install? Current drive setup: (1) 160 GB drive 20GB - Windows (hd0,0) ... NTFS 20GB - Tiger (hd0,1) ... HFS+ Journaled 20GB - Suse 10 (hd0,2) ... ext3 2GB - Swap 98GB - Data ... FAT32 I have set Tiger as both active and bootable. Didn't really do a whole lot. I've tried the [chainloader --force +1], [rootnoverify (hd0,1)], and [makeactive] options in menu.lst. None of those worked. I believe the --force option actually brought up no error message - it would just return me to the GRUB bootloader screen. Advice or information is greatly, greatly appreciated at this point. Thanks in advance! shifuimam
I did even more looking this morning, when I was more coherent after actually sleeping a bit. I have found several other posts involving this exact same GRUB error, and nobody's responded to any of them. Could we come up with some kind of definitive answer? Does Error 13 mean you're SOL? Is there a possible solution? I would very very VERY much like to find a solution to this. fakeollie
I have the exact same problem. The install dvd boots, installs to a AF journalled partition, but I can't boot from that neither via GRUB nor using chain0. Any solution would be much much appreciated. totokan
I couldn't get GRUB to work for me, so I re-wrote the MBR and manually selected which booted. But, I'm using Osx86 on an external drive, alone w/o Ubuntu anymore. But, I'm using Osx86 on an external drive, alone w/o Ubuntu anymore. What do you mean by rewriting the MBR and manually selecting which booted? Please expound on this...if I can't figure out by the end of the week, I'm going to try reinstalling everything using the XP/OSx86/CentOS guide in the wiki.... I'll post my menu.lst file when I get home in a few days.
