*Jasper*
Hey there. I'm new to this place and I am looking for help installing OS X on my pc. I am using an AMD Sempron 2800 processor on a MSI K9VGM-V motherboard (also known as MS-7253) and I am trying to install OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard. However, I can't get the installer to run. At first, the bootloaders that I tried, all made my computer reset as I was loading them. However, now I have found the PsyStar DUBL (Darwin Universal Boot Loader - v2.5.00A1) bootloader, which I can run. I can also start Windows from it just fine. However, when I try to load a OS X disk (retail, Hazard and iAtkos all alike) it does the same thing and makes my computer reset before I get to anything useful. I have searched this place, but I have not really come up with very useful results. My motherboard is in the wiki supported hardware a number of times, but only on Leopard. The only other mentioned difference is that that user states to be using the JaS distro. However, I have not been able to find a Snow Leopard release of JaS so far. I have not been able to find a Jas 10.6 release, though. (I will try adding links later, when the site isn't down. Right now, I just have to make do with Google's text-only version of their cache...) I have also looked for my processor and while I haven't found it amongst the supported hardware, I have been able to find a number of people on these (and other) forums that claimed they have installed Snow Leopard on this processor. As far as I have been able to see, the processor does also support all the features it needs to run OS X. I'm a little low on RAM (1 GB) and I am using a rather well-supported video card (Geforce 8500 GT), but I think neither of those would be causing the problem here. Does anyone have a pointer on where I might be - or am - going wrong? Does anyone have an idea what I could try next to get this thing to run OS X? pgb64
Hey Jasper, Glad to see you checked your MB and CPU to see if others have run Snow on them. Have you tried Empire EFI boot disk? What version of Snow "retail" do you have, 10.6.3? Have you set you BIOS for the install? Have you made sure your OS X HDD is the only HDD installed? I use Empire, 10.6.3 ( now 10.6.6 ), sata set as AHCI, C1E disable. Give this a try and let me know how it goes. If you have any questions just ask. Good luck.
